Zambia is the least well known of the safari countries. Situated at the heart of the continent, it naturally draws the nickname “Heart of Africa.” But, I think the nickname should reference the fact that one always has to drive through villages, past the smiling, welcoming hospitality of ordinary Zambians on their way to safari.

Zambia is a very seasonal destination, with most lodges only open from May to October, but, it offers perhaps the most reliable sightings of the spectacular African Wild Dog, is a all-around great destination for safari and shares the pride of the Zambezi River with Zimbabwe -- Victoria Falls.

Please find a sampling of pictures from one of my favorite Zambian lodge owners and his circuit of lodges -- Andy Hogg and The Bushcamp Company.
